Finished editorial illustration, square 1:1. Overhead view of one water beetle at the surface of still freshwater, placed below and right of centre, angled toward the upper left. Build its silhouette from matte black cut-paper shapes with slightly irregular, hand-drawn marker edges: a comically broad oval body, tiny rounded head, two short antennae, four short bent legs and two extravagantly long paddle-like hind legs. Keep the animal immediately legible, not anatomically instructional. A single broad patch of pale buttery-yellow reflected light surrounds it on warm ivory water; two thick, broken black ripple arcs suggest gentle movement. Flat colour, bold shapes, minimal detail, no gradients or intricate texture. Generous empty space in the upper left. Playful, expressive, handmade, with crisp silhouette contrast. No people, text, logos or watermarks.
