When the Tide Pulls Back
A tall ochre coastal cliff rises above calm blue water, with a broad plum-coloured wet band exposed by the retreating tide.
Small 640×346, Medium 1200×649
Finished editorial illustration, landscape 1.85:1, one continuous coastal scene viewed obliquely from sea level. An exaggeratedly tall, asymmetric ochre cliff enters from the right edge, its stepped silhouette towering over a very shallow ribbon of pale turquoise sea. The falling tide has exposed a broad dark-plum wet band around the cliff foot; one thin, broken ivory foam edge pulls away from the rock. Keep this tidal boundary the visual focus. Open pale-peach sky and quiet water fill the left two-thirds with useful breathing room. Build the scene from large, clearly pixel-stepped shapes reminiscent of sprite art, softened inside by broad hand-drawn marker fills and a few uneven marker strokes. Flat colours, minimal detail, soft warm illumination, playful proportions, legible at thumbnail size. Single landscape, not a sprite sheet, diagram or diorama. No people, text, logos or watermarks.
