Under Pressure
Three successive studio photographs show a yellow balloon becoming wider and flatter between two sandstone slabs under patterned blue light.
Small 640×427, Medium 1200×800
Hyperrealistic contemporary editorial photographic sequence, overall 3:2 landscape. Three equal side-by-side frames with narrow neutral gutters, photographed from the same locked camera during one controlled compression test. One inflated yellow latex balloon rests on a broad sandstone base beneath a descending sandstone slab. Left: lightly touching, nearly round. Middle: moderately compressed, oval. Right: flattened but intact, bulging sideways under pressure. The upper slab is supported and lowered by a test fixture outside the crop, never floating; its upper edge exits each frame. Both contact surfaces are smooth, with raw sediment-banded stone visible along the sides. The balloon’s tied neck rests beside it throughout. Soft frontal studio light reveals credible latex tension, contact shadows and stone texture; faint blue projected dapples fall across the stone and warm-gray background. Identical scale, viewpoint and exposure across frames. Straight-on medium-distance framing, controlled highlights, uncluttered composition. No people, no text, no logos or watermarks.
