The Winding Cut
A broad terracotta hillside with a narrow erosion gully, a shadowed cut bank and a few displaced soil fragments, rendered in cut paper and marker.
Small 480×640, Medium 900×1200
Finished editorial cut-paper collage illustration, portrait 3:4, with expressive hand-drawn marker contours and broad marker fills on matte paper shapes. One exaggeratedly broad, squat terracotta hillside sweeps diagonally through the lower two-thirds. A single long, narrow runoff gully snakes from the upper-left slope toward the lower-right foreground, visibly cutting through the soil. Its irregular scalloped banks and three chunky displaced earth fragments suggest erosion without becoming a diagram. A tiny ribbon of muted blue water occupies the bottom of the cut. Low grazing light from the lower edge catches one bank; the opposite lip casts a simple deep-plum shadow into the channel. Oversized asymmetric land shape, restrained ochre and coral palette, pale peach background with generous empty space above. Flat layered construction, slightly irregular scissor-cut edges, minimal detail, no intricate texture. No people, text, logos or watermarks.
