The Unfinished Zip
An overhead photograph of a partially open metal zipper basted into rust-red fabric, crossed by a narrow beam of reflected daylight.
Small 512×640, Medium 960×1200
Realistic editorial studio tabletop photograph, 4:5 portrait, overhead with a 50mm lens. A single unfinished rust-red cotton-twill garment panel lies on a pale grey cutting table. A silver zipper runs vertically through its center, partly unzipped so the upper opening makes a clean Y. Cream hand-basting stitches temporarily secure the zipper tape beside the folded seam allowances; a short thread tail remains attached. Fabric extends beyond the lower edge, with quiet tabletop space above and beside it. An off-frame mirror redirects window sunlight into a narrow diagonal band across the zipper and stitches, with softer ambient daylight elsewhere. Natural cloth ripples, realistic metal highlights, accurate colour, moderately deep focus. Observed work-in-progress rather than a craft demonstration; no hands, sewing machine or decorative props. No artificial grain, HDR or exaggerated texture. No text, logos or watermarks.
