The Narrow Divide
A broad ochre plateau seen from above, divided by a slender indigo gorge and edged with coral, against pale watercolour paper.
Small 427×640, Medium 800×1200
Finished editorial watercolour illustration, 2:3 portrait, direct overhead aerial terrain. One enormous asymmetric ochre plateau sweeps diagonally from the upper left toward the middle right, split by an improbably thin, winding indigo gorge. Exaggerate the swollen landmass and pinched fissure; keep the geography abstracted but immediately legible. Broad translucent watercolour washes, a few loose dark felt-tip contours, slight pigment pooling, no intricate topographic detail. An electric coral wash hugs one outer edge like a luminous rim, contrasting with the deep gorge. Pale warm cream surrounding ground, generous breathing room at lower right and an unpainted lower margin. Restrained, motionless tension within playful proportions. Simple hand-drawn shapes and a limited palette, designed to read at thumbnail size. No buildings, people, diagrams, text, logos or watermarks.
