The Long Bow
A cropped canoe paddler guides an exaggeratedly long rust-coloured bow through charcoal-toned river water, leaving curved paddle ripples.
Small 640×640, Medium 1200×1200
Square editorial illustration, viewed over one canoe paddler's shoulder. A slender, long-necked adult wearing a simple ochre flotation vest is cropped into the lower-left foreground, seen from behind. Their rust-coloured canoe has an absurdly elongated, narrow bow reaching diagonally toward the upper right. One oversized paddle blade dips beside the canoe, producing three broad outward-curving ripples. Keep the paddle grip simple and partially hidden by the shoulder. The canoe and stroke are the clear focus; open river water provides generous breathing room above and left. Expressive hand-drawn marker contours and broad colour masses, with restrained mezzotint-inspired velvety charcoal shading and soft tonal grain, not intricate hatching. Warm ivory paper, rust, ochre and muted charcoal-green water. Playful proportions, minimal detail, strong thumbnail silhouette. One scene, one paddler, no other boats. No text, logos or watermarks.
