Taking Off the Workday

Editorial studio photograph, vertical 4:5, waist-up retirement portrait of one silver-haired adult against warm-grey seamless paper. Catch the incidental moment between takes as they pull a navy work lanyard over their head; the loose strap forms an angular loop above one shoulder, its plain opaque badge holder turned backward. Three-quarter side view, gaze down and away, relaxed posture, ordinary pale-blue work shirt with naturally creased sleeves. No smile for the camera, no demonstrative pose. A single practical gallery spotlight from high camera-left makes a defined pool of light across the raised forearm and shoulder, leaving the turned face gently shaded. Subject slightly right of centre, uncluttered negative space at left. Natural colour, realistic exposure, 50mm lens, sufficient depth of field to keep the gesture clear. Quiet, slightly enigmatic, not solemn. No manufactured grain, HDR or artificial blur. No text, logos or watermarks.
