Resting in the Linen
An unbaked baguette rests between folds of baker’s linen on a stainless-steel workbench outside a bakery, crossed by hard sunlight.

Quiet documentary photograph, 4:5 portrait. Close oblique view of a working stainless-steel bakery bench on a sheltered outdoor service terrace beside an open bakery doorway. One pale, unscored baguette dough rests in a trough of heavy oatmeal-coloured baker’s linen; its rounded near end is the focal point. The loaf runs diagonally upward through broad, irregular cloth folds, leaving a strip of bare steel at the right. Hard sunlight enters from the left, cutting across the dough and cloth; daylight reflected from a nearby metal door provides weaker opposing illumination. A thin bright reflection traces the bench edge. Slight flour traces embedded in the linen, soft dough contours, ordinary wear on the steel, no decorative props. Tight 50mm framing, realistic depth of field, natural cream and cool-grey colours, restrained exposure retaining highlight detail. Only a narrow glimpse of the doorway beyond. No people, no text, no logos or watermarks.
