Canopy Before Bloom
A chunky pixel illustration of an exaggerated bromeliad attached to a diagonal branch, with lime leaves and a closed coral bud against deep teal.
Small 640×533, Medium 1200×1000
Finished editorial illustration in a 6:5 landscape frame. One epiphytic bromeliad grips a thick diagonal forest-canopy branch entering from the lower left. The plant occupies the left two-thirds: an exaggerated rosette with one enormously long arching leaf, several squat broad leaves, and a tiny tightly closed coral flower bud nestled between them. Clearly attached to bark, no pot or soil. Build the entire scene from chunky square pixels and stepped silhouettes, with loose hand-drawn marker colour variation inside the large blocks. Lime and moss-green foliage, plum-brown branch, deep teal background. A narrow pale-yellow luminous outline catches selected leaf edges and the bud. Two subdued blocky foliage masses suggest canopy depth without detail; generous quiet space on the right. Playful asymmetry, restrained anticipation, legible at thumbnail size. No intricate hatching, diagrams, people, text, logos or watermarks.
